Richard Strauss wrote his first song at the age of 6 and his last at 84.

In a lifetime of composing music, it was in song where he expressed himself most intimately and never with greater poignancy and gentle heartache than in these four songs written right at the end of his life.

There is nothing like this music for its exquisite, sustained intensity and sheer finesse.

Soprano Eleanor Lyons has garnered global attention for her beautiful voice and virtuosic performances. Known for her versatility, Eleanor passionately shapes every detail of opera, orchestral concerts, chamber music and solo recitals. The Hamburg Abendblatt calls Eleanor "a vocal miracle almost impossible to grasp".
