Masters Series
Be transported by evocative, atmospheric masterpieces.
The intoxicating colours of Debussy’s impressionistic masterpiece Nocturnes conjure images of gently passing clouds, a vibrant festival and ocean waves glinting in moonlight. Inspired by Finnish mythology, Sibelius’ Tapiola is a powerful evocation of the power, mystery and beauty of a Nordic forest.
WASO’s Principal Flute Andrew Nicholson showcases his refined lyricism and immaculate technique in Carl Nielsen’s mercurial and dramatic Flute Concerto. Ravel’s La valse concludes this concert with a shattering, darkly exultant transformation of Vienna’s most famous courtly dance.
