Mozart’s Requiem has always been the object of legend - the great composer, struggling to write one last masterpiece as he lay dying. In truth, however, this sublime music does not need a moving story to secure its reputation. Such is the profound depth of feeling and the sincerity with which Mozart gives voice to both grief and hope, that even amongst the great genius of his late works, the Requiem holds a special place.
