Tura New Music Presents Kimberley Echoes

With a new program, new artists and a new itinerary, the 2017 Echo Tour presents exciting new cross-cultural music and performance.

Kimberley Echoes is the culmination of Tura’s 2017 Echo Tour across the Kimberley, bringing together indigenous musical icons Mark Atkins, Stephen Pigram and Bart Willoughby with some of Australia’s finest instrumentalists as the Narli Ensemble, Erkki Veltheim (violin), Stephen Magnusson (guitar), Tristen Parr (cello) and Tos Mahoney (flute).

This powerful combination of artists will present a program that reaches across cultures, time and place.

In a rare treat for Perth audiences three of the many artists who collaborated throughout the Tour are special guests for this concert: Gabriel Nodea (Warmun), John Bennett (Bidyadanga) and Naomi Pigram (Broome).

The evocative landscapes of the Kimberley will also be revealed through footage taken on the road, weaving a compelling story of country and belonging, as well as new works inspired by the extraordinary locations visited on the Tour.

“You can smell the saltwater breeze and see that red dirt swirling in all of Stephen Pigram’s songs” - Mojowire

“One of the most fascinating concerts this year.” - The West Australian
